Remains of Jake Anderson’s father found

According to the Anderson family website and news reports, the remains of Jake’s father, Keith Anderson, have been found. According to KOMO news, “Last Saturday, a hiker reported finding human remains about a mile from the spot where Anderson’s truck had been found.

Sheriff’s deputies brought in cadaver dogs to search the area and were able to recover enough remains for the King County Medical Examiner to make the identification on Tuesday.

An announcement about the discovery of Anderson’s remains was delayed until all members of his family had been notified.”

We first reported on the disappearance of Jake’s father on January 13, 2010 when we were asked to get the word out. We wrote several blog posts as more news broke about the situation.  We also helped spread the word when the Jake and his family held fundraising events.  As recently as March 29, police seemed to have new hope in regard to finding out what happened.  According to that KING report, Jake thinks foul play was involved.

Jake Anderson is a deckhand on the FV Northwestern but is also a friend to the FV Cornelia Marie.  You may remember when Capt. Phil and Capt. Sig swapped Jakes.  Jake Harris went to fish on the Northwestern and Jake Anderson fished on the CM.  Jake A. enjoyed his time on the Cornelia Marie and Capt. Phil spoke highly of his work ethic.

I did not like reporting on this story.  However, once we posted that first report to help out the family; I felt obligated to see it through to the end.  I would rather report on news such as Jake receiving his USCG Mate’s License and getting married.  Jake is a great guy and we hope this will bring closure and peace to him and his family.

I wondered what happened. Jake talked about his Dad being gone, but I never read any news of him being found. I hope that Jake and his family fund the peace and as much closure as they can. The fans of Deadliest Catch and of Jake Anderson really do care and wish Jake and his all the best.

I know that you will not post this or even make a reference to it; but this post is not meant to indict anyone – it is just to let you know what is out there – so you can take a look at it if you want to.
I don’t know if any of it is true or not – I ddon’t want to believe it is – but I am not quite sure what to do about it now.

I came across this on a site called crimewiseusa.com that says that they are a private organization that looks into cases like Jake Anderson’s dad – Keith’s disappearance and then finding of their remains.

Jake, tell us it aint so!!!!!!!

You do realize that in pretty much every homicide case the first “Primary Suspects” are any and all persons most closely related to the decedent, don’t you?

If someone with whom I’m close to suddenly vanished, and/or turned up deceased without reasonable medical cause, I would immediately be a “Primary Suspect” until my whereabouts and activities for the period in question had been vetted and my involvement ruled out.

That’s just the way it is, as a matter of course, with any criminal investigation wherein a death has occurred. Quite simply, investigators start with those closest to the victim and spread their net from there as they move down the list of possible perpetrators.

Jake Anderson’s name being on that list is a matter of course and is not an indictment of any involvement of his father’s death. In fact, it would be even more curious if his name wasn’t on it.

Furthermore, being considered a suspect does not mean one is guilty of a crime, being investigated does not equate an indictment, and indictment does not equate guilt.

One last thing, in the interest of transparency. The “Most Evil” scale you referenced is a ranking system developed and used by one person, a Doctor Michael Stone. He is a forensic psychiatrist, and works for the television show “Investigative Discovery.”

Insofar as I can tell his scale is his own personal system, based on his research, and bares no material validity outside of his unique methodology for ranking killers and their “type” or propensity for killing.

That is not to say he’s wrong or shouldn’t use it, only that until it’s accepted as a mainstream investigative and diagnostic tool it’s validity doesn’t extend beyond his own use and application of this albeit interesting ranking system he’s created.

I’ll leave you with this parting thought: The first word on that report, after the identifying title, is “THEORISTS.”

        Cheers!

      • Eric April 9, 2013 at 9:22 am #

That report is a joke. Can’t begin to imagine where they came up with the information that they used to determine the “most evil” scale for these individuals. For starters, anybody that knows anything about Jake Harris and Josh Harris also knows that they’re HARDLY the same number on the “most evil” scale. Jake is/was a liar and an addict, and Josh is a responsible, hard working man. In many respects they’re polar opposites.

Also, apparently whoever compiled that report didn’t bother to consider all of the information publicly available. Jake Anderson was fishing in the middle of the Bering Sea on the Northwestern when he got the call from his mother, with news that his father had gone missing. Jake and Josh Harris were also fishing at that time. All 3 were surrounded by cameramen and the crews of those boats. Most would consider that to be what’s commonly referred to as an ALIBI.

      • My Opinion April 11, 2013 at 5:25 am #

In my opinion your post was in bad taste and done with no regard to the individuals involved. As for you being unsure what to do about it, why do you feel the need to do anything with it? It’s purely theory and as Alexander pointed out, the suspect list is exactly what we should expect. as it is the standard for all investigations of murder. Jake has worked his butt off to be the man he is today and deserves the proper respect for doing so. As for the Harris boys – come on, are you serious? You really think they would kill someone’s Dad after losing theirs and still grieving so deeply for him? So please, unless you know the facts quit spreading these theory’s and let all these families heal.

      • True Post April 12, 2013 at 4:41 pm #

Drew, I am good friends with the #2 searcher of missing persons in the US, just under Texas Equisearch, I reached out a few times to Donna Anderson, talked to her and all she had to do was to fill out a few papers and my friend would have been there with a full search team and cadaver dogs, from all the way across the country,
She was the person that had to call her and request the papers, she would never follow through with this, never filling out papers, ever, when he could have been found years before he was.The family wouldn’t even work with the Police, trust me,I talked to the PD plenty. I tried my best to help out this family in finding their loved one, but was pushed away by everyone, but on their own website for Keith, all donations were to be sent to his wife, Donna, the same person who never followed up with how I tried my best to help, instead going on cruises and things like that. So I’m with you…way too suspicious for me. So where did these ‘donations’ go??? Did the hiker who found him get any? Don’t think so. So don’t be too surprised if this is true.

      • Marrie April 23, 2013 at 10:47 am #

I know a lot of these people and was around at the time of Keith’s disappearance. I don’t know if the info I have is relevant or not or who to pass it on to who can determine that.

  2. Trisha July 2, 2012 at 3:25 am #

Oh no. :( While this brings some closure to Jake and his family, I can only imagine how they are feeling right now. May Keith Anderson rest in peace.

Coming from a family who has been in the EXACT same situation, where my father-in-law disappeared and was found later, after his car was found in the river, I empathized with this story when it happened. Its hell not to know. And, like Jake, we will probably never know HOW he ended up where he did. But, there is some closure in at least having someone to bury, to not be wondering forever. My prayers go out to their families and to Jake. I hope the Good Lord finds it in his will to lighten the sorrow in their hearts.

  29. Tracey July 2, 2012 at 3:38 pm #

I am so very sorry for the family, but one has to ask this. How did his fathers body get to a mile from the truck, when according to evidence released (the truck was full of blood)?

Sounds like a sure case of homicide…just saying

In a generation that grew up with Star Trek, having cameras everywhere and now in real life we have gadgets that take pictures & video & surf the internet. It still kind of boggles my mind that horrible things like this can still happen.

However, I have been fortunate enough to have encountered the grandeur and vastness of planet Earth first hand.

It makes me very sad to hear that tragedy strikes again, to a young man, and his family, fighting to do the right thing and earn an honest living.

Hang tough Jake, I know you are a fighter.

Such shocking news. I know myself how awful it is to have someone missing – in my case, my uncle was found, though he’ll never be the same again. I am so sorry it took so long and that it is such awful news. Thinking of you all at this awful time.

  121. Can we cut the Christianity crap? He’s dead – Faded to black, to nothingness. There’s no “angels”, some fictional “god” isn’t holding his hand – Just blackness. Sorry for your loss Jake, but there are clearly too many brainwashed people posting on here.

  122. Joseph Davis July 3, 2012 at 9:55 pm #

This find may not have been what he and his family may have wanted, but at least the Anderson family can now have closure. I offer my condolances to Jake and his family. Remain strong.

  123. Crystal July 3, 2012 at 10:04 pm #

To whoever [email protected] is how dare you say that to the people who are leaving comments. This is what some people believe so they are leaving their comments about it. You don’t believe that way that’s fine but don’t you dare knock the people who are showing their love and concern for Jake and his family. Jake and his family may believe in God and Angels and your comment could be very hurtful to them. So knock it off!!!!!

Jake, I don’t know you personally, but I have enjoyed the show for years and have followed your progress. I cannot imagine or pretend to know what you are going though. I am sorry the story of your father ended this way. Please know that there are many of us you’ve never met, but feel like we know you a little better. It took courage to share that personal side of you. God bless you man. I pray that justice will be served.

On another note; I am a sailor myself and I tip my hat to all of you cowboys of the mighty Bering. That is one sea that I don’t ever wish to cross again! God bless and keep you all!

I live not to far from from where Dr. Anderson’s remain’s were found. We always held out hope that he would return to his family and friend’s safely, but at least now Jake and his entire family can have closure and the answer’s they have been looking for these past 2 year’s. Jake, your strength in dealing with your Father’s absence is immeasurable and admirable. You and your family are in my heart,my thought’s and my prayer’s. sincerely,Dawn Turner

  133. Monty July 4, 2012 at 2:10 am #

Jake, just want you and your family to know there are millions of viewers that have waited with hope that the outcome would have been different. How painful it must have been for you to not only support your friends the Harris’s but grieve the loss of their dad on top of wondering the fate of your own father. You manage to stay out of the spotlight and and selflessly supported your friends while your heart was slowly sinking. You’re daddy raised a man he is surely proud of. Sure, you have made some bad decisions but you have countered each of those with a hundred good decisions. Congrats on your wedding! and your certification, and for growing up to be the person you are today! I want you to know that millions of viewers are wrapping our arms around you and collectively giving your father the the most glorious celebration his life! Peace be with you! Monty

My thoughts and prayers are with Jake and his family. Although I do not know him personally, I feel as if I know him through the show. When i saw this on the show, then last nights episode where he went back to the spot, my heart ached. Now to read this. Although it may bring some form of closure it is still beyond difficult. I am so sorry for your loss. You seemed to have dealt with so much sorrow, I hope you have much happiness to come.

jake, here is a poem i’ve had for long time when my mom past away. i was 24yrs old.

Don’t stand at my grave and weep:

Iam not there, I do not sleep.
Iam a thousands winds that blow:
Iam the diamonds glints on the snow.
Iam the sunlight on ripened grain:
    Iam the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,Iam the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
Iam the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
Iam not there;I did not die

  138. Margie Whitehead July 4, 2012 at 10:27 pm #

THIS IS FOR CRYSTAL; GOOD FOR YOU CRYSTAL MY EXACT SENTIMENT…. NO@NO IS VERY VERY STUPID, IGNORANT AND ANY OTHER NEGATIVE COMMENT HE/SHE WOULD MAKE.

    THANKS, CRYSTAL

  139. Crystal July 4, 2012 at 11:42 pm #

Thanks Margie. If no@no remembers the episode when Jakes sister died he told his mom at least she’s in a better place and she can run without anyone making fun of her. So that leads me to believe Jake and his family does believe in God and Heaven. So for someone to say his father has faded into nothingness and blackness was very heartless and cruel. I’m not knocking no@no for what it is he/she believes. I’m angry that he/she would say something that heartless and cruel to Jake and his family. That’s why I said knock it off. Jake and his family need all the love and support they can get right now from family, friends and Jakes fans. They don’t need negative comments at this time

  140. Norm James July 5, 2012 at 7:17 am #

Folks please don’t leave no@no anymore comments, that will only fuel that type. I have seen this type countless times before. The greatest gift you can give to them is the same you offer to Jake and his family and that is PRAY for them. Some obviously need it more then others.

Jake, God Bless you and your family in your hour of need.

I am sorry Jake A for the out come. Just glad you and your family can lay in to rest. I was just watching Deadiest Catch when you where talking about where the truck was and you kept looking.

I remember the call Jake got about his Father went missing.

Hugs and many prays to you and your Family.

First off, I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and your Dad’s friends. I am glad that you will be able to hold the service for your Dad that you talked about on “After the catch”. And where there is some closure, I know from experience, full closure is a process.
I hope and pray for divine intervention for the investigators working your Dad’s case. And for you and your family to be comforted in your grief, and calmed in your frustration. May your pain slowly, but surely be accompanied by the fond memories of times you spent with him.
    Love to you all. Carrie

[email protected]. Your a very good spokesman for your self centered cause. Good luck with the rest of your meaningless life alienating people. Your the only negative person that has posted. At least those who do believe in God took the time to post their condolences and left encouraging words.

I just read all the messages and I lost a 3 & 5 year old in a swimming pool & I could not have gone on without my Lord, so to no@no I leave this message…I would rather live to think there is a God and die to find out there isn’t than to live to think there is no God and die to find out there is, God bless you Jake and family and new wife. My Prayers are also with you.

But trust me on this one, he’s not gone far babe, he’s right here with us, right beside you.
I lost my brother 16 years ago, the love of my life …. he has continued to show me little signs that he is still with me. God needed him for something much bigger but his little sister is still his priority. Look for little signs, if your open to them, he will let you know he’s still with us.
Much love to you and your family. XoXo

If God is all powerful and all knowing, why would he “need” anybody for anything? If he’s calling all the shots and pulling all the strings, then those who die certainly have no role once we’re dead. But let me guess, in your mind he puts us to work (whether we like it or not) in the afterlife, doing his bidding here on Earth (and in space). Not exactly my idea of Heaven, I thought it was supposed to be paradise. On that note, how is it that you have special insight into Heaven, or God, or what happens after death? Because you lost someone close to you, as we all have? I’ve been dead, twice, for a very considerable amount of time, and I daresay I have a little more insight than most on this subject. It never ceases to amaze me how people make up explanations to make them feel better about their mortality, and about all of the otherwise inexplicable pain and suffering we endure in our daily lives.

May Gods mercy and comfort be with you and your family in these hard times. Our prayers will be with you all.

I never saw this info added to any of the DC or ATC eps I watched last season (I watched them all), and didn’t stumble upon this information until now. For Jake and his family’s sake I’m really glad to hear that they’ve found his remains. It may or may not bring some “closure” to them (family members of victims have varying feelings on this point), but it DOES bring some answers, and a body makes all the difference in the world when investigating a case such as this. Unfortunately, I’m sure Jake’s going to beat himself up for not locating those remains himself. I know he spent a great deal of time searching those woods near where his father’s car was found, and for the remains to only be about a mile from there must be very frustrating for him and others that searched that area.

  155. Drew Bakershop April 13, 2013 at 7:53 am #

Jake lost his sister, his friend capt. Phil, and now his father. I feel so bad for him. I want to make a song for him. The song will be comforting peaceful reggae song and I hope he will like it.

  156. Will May 14, 2013 at 3:25 am #

Hey buddy. I’ve been watching ya’ll haul since the beginning man, and I still feel that pain man. Lost my step mom, my Uncle Don who pretty much acted as a dad, my older brother Randy and Uncle Sherman who raised me as well, and too many friends lately. Seems passe, maybe even silly, but I say in all seriousness I’m here for ya dude. I hope somehow you finally find peace man, but I know that it’s not easy and that words do so little. If you ever need help, if you ever come down to Bama, gimme a shout.
