F/V Cornelia Marie to leave Drydock soon
For several weeks, the F/V Cornelia Marie has been at drydock in Ketchikan, Alaska. Many fans of the show have taken pictures as they passed by on a cruiseship going in and out of the harbor. As you can see by the photos, we have a new coat of paint. But more importantly, we’ve been working on one of our main engines that needed attention. Also, we’ve tried to make some efficiency improvements to save money by burning less fuel.

Very nice job on the boat. Let’s hope that takes care of your engine problems. Phil I sure hope you are well enough to go with the crew this season. Maybe you could keep the extra man you hired and have Murray kind of ride shot gun with you in the wheel house. Sure would make us all feel better and you too.
Love ya and take care. I saw you last week end in Puyallup, and you looked mighty fine. Ohhh La La!!!!!

I have feelings for you, I hope they’ll never die. I hope you’ll always be the reason for every tear i cry. I hope you always stay the way you are now, I hope time stands still for you somehow. I hope your smile never turns to a frown, I hope you get everything you want and never get let down. I hope you’ll live recklessly and never pay for it, I hope every hook you throw is a hit. I hope no matter how much money you make you’ll always make more, I hope someday I’ll find you at my door. I hope the cold never makes you bitter, I hope you get an awesome summer for every winter. I hope you’ll never lose the sparkle in your beautiful brown eyes, I hope your life is filled with blue skies. I hope you never start to feel the pain, I hope no one ever stops calling you Freight Train. I hope you sort tons of crab and not get pinched at all, I hope you run across the deck and never fall. I hope you spend your dad’s money and never get caught, I hope you never stop being so hot! I hope you know that you’re very irrasistible, I hope you always stay so beautiful. I hope you cherish every second with your family, I hope you read this someday and think of me. XXPoem I wrote about..well can it get anymore obvious?

Cornelia, you will always be the most beautiful boat in the crab fleet. And no one loves you more than your captain. I know everyone is praying that he will be able to join you for this new crabbing season and for many seasons to come. Capt Phil, me and the other Harris Hotties are sending positive thoughts and prayers your way every day. Be safe and good crabbing!!

The Cornelia Marie looks great, although a bit strange out of water. My guess is that Capt Phil feels a bit strange being drydocked for so long like his FV. Here’s hoping that the CM runs as good as she should for the coming king crab season. And I am hoping and praying so hard that her rightful captain will be at her helm. Healthy and happy and on the crab with his loyal sons at his side. Murray did a great job filling in, but it is time, now that the Cornelia Marie and Capt Phil have both had some time and assistance in getting healthy. Capt Phil you have so many fans praying so hard for you, I know our prayers won’t go unanswered. Take care of yourself, your crew and God willing, you will be where you belong at the helm of the great Cornelia Marie very soon! She awaits her captain and boy, so do we!!!! Sincerely, Cameo
PS, I am going to speculate that the show will stay very mum about Capt Phi’s return to get us all jacked up about it. But if anyone hears a leak, I sure hope they will shout it out here! It is such a long stretch until the show returns next spring. Good thing I have all my season DVD’s to watch the CM and the best captain and crew do their thing! WE MISS YOU CAPT PHIL!!!

Gosh I love this boat! I used to live in Ketchikan. When I heard the CM was there in dry dock I sent someone to photograph her. I was too late, she’d already gone. :-( Would have loved to get more pics from different angles.
Here’s hoping the that CM and crew have a wonderful, safe, and happy season this year. Sending my best wishes and thoughts to Captain Phil, whatever the outcome…
Luv you guys; you’re my fave crew in the fleet!

Hey guys i really hope that phil gets better and is able to return to the helm this upcoming season. When i heard that he wasn’t able to fish my heart sank and i felt very sad for Phil and his sons. I know what it is like to worry about your father, my dad had a stroke at 39 and 2 heart attacks and 3 open heart surgeries and a pace maker before he was 50. So i know how Phil’s boys must feel because i am always worried about my dad. I would love to get the chance to be able to go crabbing with the best crew in the whole fleet i dream about doing it all the time. Well best wishes to Phil and his sons i hope the he is much better and starts taking better care of himself so that his boys don’t lose him and so that he can be back fishing this upcoming season.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to drop a note about Captain Phil. He has posted on his myspace that he will be heading up to Dutch Harbor on October 6th. The Red King Crab season begins on October 15th, so I think it is a good bet to say that the doctors have given him the green light to take our freshly painted, pretty and refurbished Cornelia Marie out on the Bering Sea.
Phil, we will still be sending you our prayers and good thoughts for your continued good health and a bountiful (and short) crab season. Please follow doctors orders so that you will be fishing for many years to come.

Hi Captain Phil & Sons! Just a note to thank you for letting us all be a part of your lives and careers. It sure does put a lot in perspective when it comes to family and friends. I was reciently diagnosed with Rapid Atrial Fibrillation, which can cause clots and other issues and I am a 46 year old wife and mother with a lot to live for. Phil, you give me hope and strength, especially when the meds don’t work (and make my heart pound out of my chest at over 160 beats a mn and I end up back in the hospital) or over-do their job (and make me short of breath and extremely weak), that I will maybe be ok and stick around a while. Thank you for the inspiration to not just give up. It’s a long row to hoe and it scares the hell outta me. I still smoke (lightly), but I don’t drink and have lost a lotta weight to keep in check my diabetes and high cholestrol. You don’t give up and I won’t give up, okay? Even thoe we have never met and chances are we probably never will, you make me not so scared of all this and the reality of my own mortality and I can not put into words what that means to me. Not ever. Hope to see you on Deadliest Catch doing what you love real soon. God bless and stay strong! ;) Bridget (AKA; Seaweed) in North Mankato, MN

all the very best captain Phil, my dad (god rest his soul) was a seafarer like you, he taught me many things about the sea, how to respect and not take it for granted, you remind me of him in the way you lead your crew calmly fairly and firmly, i’ve only started watching DC in the last year and am facinated by how hard the crews (especially your crew) work this dangerous sea, dont think i’d have the stamina to work in +20ft seas day in day out, i know how hard it is physically, i pray that you will get well very soon and return to your helm in the new season so i can watch you top the fleet crab count again, i see by the kind words from fans that you have a loyal and dare i say it female following !! god bless to you, your great sons and crew
With Regards Don, from Hamilton, New Zealand

The CM is looking great! I’m looking forward to seeing her in the next season of DC on TV; I’ve been watching the show since it first came out. Captain Phil, wishing you the best in your recovery and I’m hoping to see you and your crew in good health when the new season airs! I can’t believe some of the stuff the crews (and the boats) go through to make a living, and I thought life in the military could sometimes be insane! All of the crews have my respect, and I’m just glad that the rest of the world gets to see just how much you guys do. Safe travels, safe fishing, and may you all come home safe and sound…
