Will the Cornelia Marie be back on Deadliest Catch?

“Is the Cornelia Marie coming back next year?”. This is one of the most popular questions posed to me these days. My answer is, “I don’t know – it’s up to the Discovery Channel”.
However, during the CatchCon “deckhand panel”, Josh Harris made a public statement that took on that question. I don’t have the transcript, but to paraphrase, “We’re working hard to take over the Cornelia Marie and keep it on the show”. This statement drew a huge round of applause from the hundreds of fans in the room.
I thought the “Deckhands Panel” during CatchCon was the most fun part of the whole day. The group was very lively, honest and funny. You definitely got an idea of what happens “behind the scenes”. I still have many photos and interviews I will share in the future.
Meanwhile, be sure to tune to Tuesday night’s new episode where Jake gets in trouble with the old man.

Robert~You really nailed it! I’ve also wondered why I care so much for people I have never met. You really explained it well.
“These men and their profession are the genuine article in a world full of lies, liars, frauds and phonies. You can’t catch crab with charm, or calm a Bering Sea storm with bull crap. You can’t hide who and what you are from men who live on the edge and the simple truths that separate a real man from a pretender”
That is so true!!They are real. Thank you for putting it into words for a lot of us. It explains to Phil’s family why we are so attached to him. And why we grieve for a man we have never met.

I am surprised at how hard I’m taking it having never even met Phil Harris. The man made me laugh, cry, shocked at times and You could see He really loved Josh and Jake. Safe passages Phil (holds up a beer in salute)

I agree with Theresa C. There are
so many fakes, phonies! These
crab fishermen are the real thing –
they work/play hard and definitely
are not afraid of taking responsibility
for getting the job done. I will miss
Phil Harris – he was genuine!!!
I hope his sons can take over the Cornelia Marie – Phil would be proud!!!

I was saving eneough money to try and go meet all the them this year since I live on disability but I see now I am to late. I have cried more these past few months than I have in a lifetime. You guys have been part of my family since the show started and watchig the shows and seeing the end of Phil is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. My Prayers or with all of you. I met Phil briefly at last summer’s (get this) Doobie Brothers concert at the Tulalip Amphitheater. He was cordial and took the time to bullshit with me for a couple minutes. I will really miss him on the Deadliest Catch.

He will be missed. And we hope to see the boys reunite in a whole new way and come together to take over the boat. they owe him that much. They need to go out there and do their Papa proud for the next 20 yrs themselves and carry on the Cornelia Marie and the Harris clan’s fishing legacy! We miss ya BIG GUY! And Discovery Channel … Give CM it’s slot back next year or you’ll loose a lot of us altogether for a lot of your shows…

I to hope they come back. I love the show as much as everyone else. I nevered met any of them but It did feel like a part of the family, especialy after experiencing te last few shows. How brave of the family to share some very private times with us. Thank you but I’m not sure I wanted to see it but then I couldn’t not watch either. I have come to really enjoy watching Johathan this season. That boat and crew are really funny and so very human in their efforts to do te best job possible keeping everyone safe first. I think pretty much all the crab fishermens are pretty special to do what they do. I have a girlfriend that she and her husband were on a boat in the Bering Sea just one season and they said it was the hardest, most scarist time they have ever had. They said it was so hard that it took every thing they could muster to stay alive and help others stay alive as well. They also said that even they were only gone one season they were welcomed and treated just like family. It takes special people to be policemen, people who serve our country, doctors. And fishermen & women are among the true heros that risk their lives everyday to help provide for the rest of us.
So I do hope the CW returns as well as the rest of the boats and crews.

I have been a loyal fan of d/c right from the beginning. Tonight was the hardest show to watch. I didn’t want to watch but I couldn’t not watch. I have watched these kids grow into the young men that Phil was so proud of. The pride and love he felt for his sons shown in his eyes everytime he spoke about them. My heart hurt so much tonight it felt as tho someone reached in and ripped it out. My prayers go out to Jake and Josh and to the crew of the Cornelia Marie. My prayers also go out to the other men of the f/vs, also the cameramen who actually became a part of their family. Remember Phil with laughter and not tears for he lived life with such vigor. I feel honored to of been able to watch him and his family. God Bless you all.

Capt Phil was the kind of (man) many people know nothing about. He was the kind of (man) many of us would like to see in our own fathers. He was strong, He was brave, He was true, and he was real. What kind of America would we be living in if all men could real and dareing ? I only hope that Phil spends eternity in Heaven. God be with the Harris clan. You have no idea of the impact you have on peoples lifes. Just look at what an inpact your Dad had. He had a heart of gold, He had the heart of a real Man.
