It’s weird watching old episodes known that Capt. Phill has gone. He truly was one of the most important reasons to keep watching the show, just because he was such a great personality. He is and will be missed by many.

The death of Capt Phil was so sad. I was watching the show on reruns the other night and found myself really missing him, almost as if I knew him. His kids were so strong and so devoted to him. You could see the love in the family accompanied with the hard work. RIP

My father went to sea all his life, as did his father and grandfathera before him. Mariners are a strong breed of man. I believe it’s the result of the salt water that runs freely in their veins. My dad sailed for over 60 years before he retired and became a port engineer. He started at age three on his father’s schooner sailing the Pacific. Like Captain Phil, he was a man’s man…quiet, strong,sincere, and tender despite the rough surface. I miss him and I wish Josh and Jake the very best. Put aside “childish things” and assume the mantle of your dad. That was his legacy to you and the best way to honor his memory. Like you dad, my dad died suddenly. That was good. He was not wittled down, but crossed the bar with all sails pulling and all flags flying… the only way for a man of the sea.

I lost my best freind shortly after Captain Phils’ passing. Don would have been 60 yrs old this December, 2010. I miss them both so very much. Good Luck guys. As I said in my earlier message: May you have fair winds and following seas.
