Season Finale of Deadliest Catch

Tonight is the last episode of this season of “Deadliest Catch”. Discovery is calling this one “Endless” and provides the following description. “Tension runs high on the Northwestern. Edgar Hansen is fed up with the 22 year marathon of pain, and confronts older brother Sig. Josh Harris returns to the Cornelia Marie and the Opilio Season ends with a harrowing mayday.”

We were the last Bering Sea crab fishing boat fishing Opilios this year. We almost ran out of time – I think we only had a week left in the season when we finally finished catching our quota. After our skipper passed away, the boat suffered an enormous amount of breakdowns.

Did you watch the “Behind the Scenes” episode on Sunday night?  According to EW.com author Mandi it was just as emotional as the past few episodes of Deadliest Catch:

“Foolishly, I thought the toughest episodes of Deadliest Catch were behind us, but watching last night’s behind-the-scenes look at the filming of season 6, I actually beat my sofa with a pillow and shouted, “[Creative expletive that it's a shame I can't share] I. Cannot. Take it. I Cannot. Take it.” — on two separate occasions.”

Mandi goes on to give full detail of the episode and why she thought it was so good.  Phil’s cameraman Todd Stanley was featured in the episode.  He stated on his facebook page that the article was “dead on” accurate.  I wrote about Todd recently when he gave a radio interview about his relationship with Capt. Phil.

Prior to the last episode at 9 pm, Discovery Channel is showing back to back episodes from this season starting at 9 am.

I totally lost it while watching Behind The Scenes when Todd and Freddie embraced. And, it was a beautiful gesture that Phl gave Todd his ring.

Morgan, please try and convince Freddie to come to the Fishermans Festival–the fans would love to meet him.

I watch Discovery a ton and didn’t see anything about it. I browsed Discovery’s site and couldn’t find anything on it either.

I just hope that everything will trun out right for the crew and family. I watched behide the scenes and couldn’t keep from crying. He wanted to share this with the world and i’m glad that Todd was able to do what Captain Phil Harris wanted them to do. But i will truely miss seeing the smile and seeing him. I hope that all of you can keep everything that you have done to help healing. I hope that the boy’s can carry on in their dad’s footstep’s. I hope that Todd will be the one to keep fliming . Hope the discover channel will keep the show on and come back next season. Keep up the good work. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AT DISCOVER CHANNEL>

I cannot believe I missed the Behind-The-Scenes. As much as I love DC, I would have watched it if I remembered.

I can’t believe DC is over. This season went by fast, yet, it was very emotional. Phil will never be forgotten, but he will be dearly missed.

    God Bless

What an emotional rollercoaster of a season. Still hard to believe that Phil is gone.

I saw the Behind the Scenes show on Sunday and it was tough to watch. To see everyone breaking down…it does a number on a person.

I also want to say that I was leery about who was going to take over the boat after Phil, but I REALLY like Derrick Ray. He’s obviously not been on the show much, but from what I have seen of him he seems down to earth. I can’t explain it well, just a gut feeling that he would be good for the CM. I hope he is able to stay on.

Morgan, thanks so much for keeping this site updated and the fan site. Your hard work is definitely appreciated

    Hey just a question???

When every other boat was on great fishing at the end of the season pulling their last pots…why did they not contact the Cornelia Marie and say come right here and drop your pots, or even more charitable why didn’t every boat put in a short pull to meet Phil’s quota?

Those of us in your back yard couldn’t watch it because we had a weather event that blew up our power. No Behind tthe Scenes was far more upsetting than no air conditioning in the earthly version of hell!!!! thank goodness we have power at my house and watched the last show.
Thanks again morgan for all you do. This is a wonderful website. I will miss reading all the great emails for eitht months.

Every show has been done with a great deal of respect for the Harris lost, all the other boats and crews. DC will never be the same no matter if CM returns or not. I wish that the boat Kodic and it’s captain would not be in next season. They are a very poor example of what this group of men stand for. I guess since the CM is down for a while they needed to fill in the empty space but please no more of them. They put me to sleep they’re so boring and whiny. For the captain to get so pissed off at the camera guy for being so sea sick, turned me off right-a-way. Shame on him for caring more for his boat than that of the health of one of the man on board. Yea yea yea he came around but the captain still was bitchy even after he was taken off the boat.
As many of you out there, I didn’t have the pleasure of ever meeting captain Phil but still had this overwheming feeling of great loss at his passing. I hope that the “boys” can get their affairs in order to return to the DC in time for the next round of fishing even if it’s the hardest thing they do next season. No one can replace captain Phil no matter how hard some might try. All we can do is continue to support and pray for all the boats and crews to be safe and return home to their loved ones at the end of the season. I have no doubt that Captain Phil will be forever watching out for his sons as well as the rest of his fishing buddys. I also believe that the huge haul that all the boats caught on the last day of fishing was from Captain Phil.

The “Behind the Scenes” show was great…they usually re-air everything the weekend after the showing – if anyone has Comcast on Demand-sometimes when you go under the tv shows section-you pull up discovery channel-they have different episodes, that may be listed on there now too. I like watching the Behind the Scenes shows too, I don’t think they do it every year, i saw one or two over the past 6 seasons. It was good. Love the show, love the boys, miss Phil a bunch, last episode of the season was sad butgreat as usual. looking forward to Season 7.

    Hi There Corneliamarie,
Maybe a little off topic, however, A great deal I Do About nothing at all is the terrific illustration of a year finale, tying up loose strings although establishing new kinds at the equivalent time. Relationships that appeared stable are crumbling all above the destination, and associations that appeared to be in excess of are flourishing. All the steps takes put roughly the wedding of Lily and Bert, apart from for the portion exactly where Lily wakes up in Rufus’ bed.
