Memorial Day: Capt. Phil always honored our soldiers

Capt. Phil - "After the Catch" taping
Last year, Discovery Channel taped “After the Catch” in San Diego. While Capt. Phil and the rest of the Captains were there, I received a phone call from a fellow named Peter at the Naval Medical Center. He said he read a report about the Deadliest Catch captains being in town to videotape a special show. Peter wanted to know if Phil and the others would be interested in stopping by the Prosthetics department where he worked. He said all the guys he was taking care of in the Prosthetics unit were big fans of the Deadliest Catch. I passed the word on and that same day, Johnathan, Andy and Phil drove over to the hospital to make a visit. I was surprised the guys went over just like that – and so was Peter and the 25 guys who got to meet Andy, Johnathan and Phil.
At the time this happened, I was too busy to write a blog and show the pictures of the visit. I am happy I get a chance to show them now. This wasn’t the first time Phil went out of his way to make these types of visits… I couldn’t keep up and report them all. Phil had the greatest respect for all of our men and women who serve to protect us.

It goes without saying that the Captains all appreciate and thank our soldiers regularly!

This has to be my husbands favorite show, and I know he was pretty upset with the news of Phil’s passing. He was kind of a rough dude, but a good soul I think.
So sad…

Captain Phil was hands down THE reason to watch this show. Charisma and a hard attitude made him hands down one of the coolest guys out on the sea!!

Yeah, Captain Phil R.I.P. It was truly great what Andy, Phil, and Jonathan did for those vets. As a vet myself I can really appreciate what they did. God Bless

Capt. Phil was certainly charismatic, a bit rough around the edges maybe but always fun to watch.
