Deadliest Catch tonight: Capt. Phil and Jake

Phil and Jake, season 2
Tonight’s episode is going to be the beginning of a tough road for all of us. According to Discovery Channel, tonight’s episode entitled “The Darkened Seas” will show on the “Cornelia Marie, the skipper’s son reveals a dark secret.”
According to Thom Beers, the show’s creator, tonight’s episode is a “pivotal installment in the ongoing story of Harris and his two deckhand sons, Jake and Josh.” Beers goes on further to say, “… this show really sets the tone. It’s sets a whole different family dynamic. It’s really intense.”
If you have watched any of the Discovery Channel promos you‘ve heard Phil yelling at Jake. He says a lot things in the heat of moment as he’s very upset. Of course, this happens with families. But, you have to keep in mind that these guys live side by side in a very small area with little sleep and stressful work. Things can intensify quickly.
Next Tuesday, June 22, is the “Deadliest Catch” episode when our skipper suffers the stroke. I know some folks were asking when it would happen… to prepare themselves. I can understand that – seeing him on every week does make it feel as though he’s still with us.
The premiere episode of “After the Catch” follows directly after tonight’s episode of “Deadliest Catch”. This roundtable discussion show between the Captains will probably bring the humor we will all need. I talk about the show and the “behind the scenes” here and here.

After reading all the comments, I just chuckle. I am new to this but I felt a passion after watching these shows..It makes me sad to hear all of you talking so bad about Jake. Have you walked in his shoes? I feel it was that Jacka** publicity seeking Capt trying to get EXPOSED. I have lived with an addict before and I could be wrong but I don’t think that Jake is on drugs…and if he is…how many other crew members are doing drugs…Com’on.. on the other boats no one does drugs? Not saying its cool but Why on national TV single that out? If the “new capt” had any guts or respect, he would have pulled Jake off screen , if nothing but respect for Phil. Obviously the guy wants publicity and he got it didn’t he?

Jakes a grown ass man and will do what’s best for him on his watch. I was addicted to roxys and oxys since I turned 21 and didn’t stop for 3yrs. Now I’ve been sober for a yr but not a day goes by that I don’t think of pills. My kids are number one in my life. Oh and I failed to mention that the father of my 3 girls,my husband, died from a multi drug toxicity so just think of that. We are not bad people for being addicts, we just make bad choices. Good luck jake, ur the man and I love ya! Mwah:)
