Cornelia Marie at Emmys
F/V Cornelia Marie crew walked down the red carpet at the 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. The event will air as a two-hour special on Friday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m. (ET/PT), on E! Entertainment Television. Jake, Josh and Derrick Ray, our relief skipper joined Thom Beers and Todd Stanley from Original Productions.
The boys actually presented a couple of awards with “Deadliest Catch” creator Thom Beers. You can see the three of them here posing for the cameras. Derrick Ray was invited to attend as a guest of longtime Cornelia Marie cameraman Todd Stanley. We have written about Todd Stanley before, (click here) and think highly of him at the CM family. Of course, we think that Todd and his crew should have won for best cinematography but unfortunately they did not.

The Deadliest Catch did win one Emmy – I believe it was nominated for a total of four awards. “Deadliest Catch” won for outstanding sound mixing for non-fiction programming. The award went to Bob Bronow, re-recording mixer. DC was also nominated for outstanding picture editing for non-fiction programming but did not win.
Deadliest Catch lost to HBO’s “By The People: The Election of Barack Obama.” I haven’t seen this doc – it’s probably of high quality but seems like it should be in a different category. Deadliest Catch is unique show with different limitations and challenges than traditional documentaries. Thom Beers has often commented on how he thinks the Emmys need to work on their categories. The Creative Emmy Awards have concluded, but there’s still no answer to whether the Cornelia Marie will be back on the show next season. I think that Deadliest Catch should have won more emmys, but you know how far up Obama’s butt Hollywood is. I am SURE that Deadliest Catch drew more viewers than the “Obama” documentary did. So much so that I can’t even remember the name of it. All things aside, congrats to the boys. I think that Todd was an excellent cameraman and, especially for this last season, should have won an award. All us fans know who the real winners are, and it doesn’t take an award to prove it. Hope to see the Cornelia Marie this upcoming season.

I do hope that the Harris’s have work out whatever they needed to in order for the CM can come back strong as ever. It would be a shame if the CM was no longer on the show. CM and B are the only boats I really watched. Sorry Bill but your boat and crew are so boring. CM and B boats are the best in the fleet.
I like the Northwestern and thier crew as well. I still watch all the reruns. It’s still so hard to watch Capt.Phil, knowing he’s gone. Last season should have won hands down for it’s creative,respectful and kind portayal of Capt. Phils last days. It was done so well. Maybe next year will be their year.This is one of the best shows on TV.
I look forward to watching the new season coming up. But if the CM isn’t there I doubt that I will watch as much. Jake looks great at the Emmys. Hope all his troubles with pain pills are behind him now.

I knew something was wrong and we found out on the show…I am glad and proud of him for keeping his promise to his dad. I can’t wait to see you boys on the next season. Capt. Phil help to make Deadliest Catch along with his crew and it would be stupid not to have them on the show!
It definetly would hurt the shows ratings to not have the Cornelia Marie back on this season.
As for Jake Andersen, I am happy the boys are helping him with the fundraiser for his dad. Hopefully his dad is found soon. He and his family have gone through alot. I`m glad Jake and Josh are there to support him along with the rest of the guys! That is truly a fishing family! May they all have a Great season this year!!!!

If they were nominated for 4 emmy’s, then i think they should have gotten all 4 of them. u will never find a better film crew that filmed this show. they put there live’s on the line 2 give us great picture’s, emotion’s, etc, of this crew & the other fisherman that were on the show. the Emmy’s i think in my oppinion did not acknowledge the passing of Capt. Hi Guys! you look great. I think the use of “reality TV” is miss used. Putting people on an island and making them jump through hoops for survival in my option is NOT reality. Reality is fishing the Baring sea without a net. It’s the only “reality” TV I’ve seen yet. Some are to dumb to mention. My point is, if you have to stage it, it shouldn’t be considered reality.

Febuary was a month of loss for me. i lost my mini pin to poison, then the only reason I watched the show was for the Cornelia Marie was your family, then my fiance died of a heart attack valentines day. my 3 most favorite boys all gone in 2 weeks. i will boycott the show if the Cornelia Mmarie and the boys and crew are not returned to us. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter he had with his sons which shows the love there is in the family.
I’ve always watched Deadliest Catch and here in Plymouth, UK we are only now getting the series that was filmed earlier this year. I had my suspicions that it was Captain Phil that had died but didn’t want to believe it so checked out the website.
My thoughts go to Josh and Jake and as commented before I too lost my father 10 years ago and it’s still upsetting and it does get easier. Love to all involved in the Cornelia Marie.
Fantastic Reality show, keep it coming.
