Captain Phil making appearance in Oregon today

Phil will be at Ray’s Food Place in Albany, Oregon today to promote his own line of coffee.  The store is located at 621 Hickory St. NW in the North Albany Village.  He will be there from 4 – 7 pm signing autographs.

After the signing they’re doing something cool – Phil will host a viewing of “The Deadliest Catch” for selected fans at the Venetian Theater on 241 First Ave. SW.  To attend the screening, you must first attend the Coffee event and fill out an entry form.  Drawings will be held to select fans to join Phil for the viewing at the theater.  Should be fun – if you attend, let us know how it went.  Send photos if you want to see them on the website.  cm_email

Darn! I wish I knew you were going to be in Albany today, I would have loved to have met you. You are by far my
    favorite fisherman/crabman!
Last I heard you had a new girlfriend, I don’t wish you bad luck with her but if that doesn’t workout give me a call. I’d be happy to keep my feet on shore and keep the fires burning for you at home!
Here’s to your continuing good health and all the best for another safe and profitable season!

On Tuesday May 5, I wasted 4 plus hours attending a very poorly run event at the Ray’s Food Place in Albany, Oregon. All information provided stated that Phil Harris would be there from 4PM to 7PM. I confirmed this on Monday by calling the store. I arrived at 4:30 PM and stood in line for 30 minutes by 5:00 PM we were told there were to be no more personal contact with him, but instead we would be given a ticket to see a showing of Deadliest Catch show at a local theater and 50 people would be allowed to meet him. This event would not take place until 7:30 PM. I planned to purchase several bags of coffee and give them as gifts. The store personnel were trying to be helpful, but really had no explanation for this quota. I drove over 100 miles round trip. Including the time I waited in line this was a waste of 4 hours of my time. I assure you I will not be purchasing any coffee or shopping at Ray’s Food Place in the future and will share this experience with friends and relatives. I have attended other similar events at Fred Meyer and never experienced treatment like this. I realize there is no way to judge how many people would attend this event, but this is not the first Ray’s Food Place in Oregon he has appeared at so they must have had a clue. In these tuff economic times people are much more selective on what they spend their money on, treating people so poorly will do little to ensure Captain’s Reserve coffee just doesn’t sink to the bottom of the over crowded market place.

I attended the Ray’s in Albany Coffee event as well and I am pleased to say that it was nice to meet the man that, until yesterday, I had only seen on TV.
Phil and sons, along with the rest of the Deadliest Catch crews have become like family and when I told him that, he almost teared up.
It was an honor and a pleasure to have met Capt. Phil and his son Jake, they were gracious and seemed somewhat overwhelmed by the response they were recieving from this small oregon town.

As for Robert Scott, I realize 100 miles is a lot, I stood in line for 1 1/2 hours before meeting him, but I also noticed he was not looking too hot.
I would encourage you to remember that he is not in the best of health and maybe that was why you couldn’t see him.

Our prayers to the crew of the CM and please pass them along to the rest of the skippers as well.

Thank you for coming to our town, Phil, you are welcome here anytime.

Update. After doing some more research and after a long, yet pleasant, conversation with the Manager at Ray’s food in Albany. It seems that everyone has been misinformed.

The reason that Robert Scott, and others like him, did not get to see Capt. Phil is due to a lack of access tickets for the event.

Apparently, there were only 200 tickets given out and Ray’s ran out of tickets at approximately 4:30. Those that did recieve tickets did get the opportunity to have pictures, autographs and a 2-3 minute bull session with Phil and Jake then it was on to the Venetian for the viewing with Phil.

For all those that have been spreading rumors and inuendos, do the research and get your facts straight. Even I was not sure until I called and spoke with the store manager.

Phil, Thanks again and if you ever need a place to stay and a home cooked meal while you’re in the Willamette Valley, our home is open to you and yours. Just shoot us an email.

    Shannon,
Thanks for the update, I appreciate it.

I did get a chance to speak to Robert (comment above)and let him know everybody tried their best to make it a good event. He responded and seems like a good guy.

Like I told Robert,”We’ve met so many great people since the show become popular –it has been fun. We all expect that it could end anytime and we’ll just go back to fishing like we always have… So I would hate to think we angered anyone during the process. At the heart of Captain Phil and my family (my mother Cornelia Marie Devlin) we’re just fishing families. We’re a lot more experienced at catching crab that making sure events go off smoothly.”

Thanks to you Shannon, the good folks at Ray’s and the town of Albany. (I lived in nearby Corvallis going to school.)

I would like to thank everyone involved who responded to my complaint about the Albany event. Jay Payne the manager of Ray’s Food Place in Albany and his crew, Marsha from Captain’s Reserve Coffee, and most of all Morgan Howard from the Cornelia Marie family. It is uncommon in todays, what’s in it for me; win at all cost business environment to find people who really do care about the customer. I will share this experience with many friends and family and will be a loyal customer of Captain’s Blend Coffee. I know it must seem strange that after doing a job for years anonymously that you are suddenly thrust into the public eye and become a celebrity can be overwhelming. My best to Captain Phil Harris and the crew and I wish them a safe and profitable season next year. I look forward at a future event to meet Captain Phil in person.

Unbelievable. Yall knocked it out of the park with this blend of Coffee. I just had my first cup of Josh and Jake’s Deckhand Blend and I have to say that I have been looking for an aeromatic blend like this since I started grinding my own coffee a little over a year ago.

This blend was almost overbearing as I opened the package but I was pleasantly surprised with the mellow flavor of this blend.

    Absolutely superb.

Nice job guys, will post again when I try the other blends as well

Capt. Phil soooo needs to make it out to Montana! I’m not a very good cook, my house is very small, but I’m great fun and would be happy to take Capt. Phil all around the Big Sky state. :)

I had the good fortune of using my incurable knack for running way early to get to Ray’s at 3:15pm. I was in the first group of 50 and got to meet Phil and Jake. Both of these guys were great…they’re real, normal people. They talked to my 11 year old, asking his name and taking a genuine interest in the people that were there to see them. The staff at Ray’s were very gracious. The crowd was HUGE. I think everyone was a little overwhelmed at the fan response. Anyway, Thanks to Phil, Jake, Ray’s and Morgan Howard. Phil reminds me so much of my dad who lives far away; I have become emotionally invested in him as millions of other people have. Best wishes for safety and health to all of the captains and crew on the F/Vs. Thanks!!!

    Captain Phil,
Please come to Va. Beach, Va. We like to eat crabs and go fishing; although, we have much smoother waters in the Chesapeake Bay! Please come and bring us some of your coffee! We want to meet you.

Phil and Jake, you guys ROCK! They signed autographs for more than three hours, more than a thousand people showed up! I drove from Newberg Oregon with my two kids and Phil and jake were nothing short of gracious gentleman! God Bless Em!

I gave 6 coins to Phil, blessed by God, for good luck for all 6 of the boats. I hope one makes it to each of the boats! I have the 7th, and its marked like the others and blessed as well. Of course there are 7, that’s better luck!

Thanks you guys! That was absolutely a highlight in my life, it was just too freakin cool!
