The premiere episode of season 8 marks the 100th episode of Deadliest Catch. The show is also special in that it marks the first episode in 7 seasons that the FV Cornelia Marie is not involved.
Why isn’t the Cornelia Marie on season 8 of the Deadliest Catch? The simple, obvious reason is that the CM didn’t go fishing during these crab seasons. The reason for that is more complicated but was mainly due to the boat needing repairs.
Jake, Josh and Freddie are still on the show. Josh Harris fished as a deckhand on the FV Time Bandit. Jake Harris fished as a deckhand on the FV Northwestern. Freddie fished his second season as a deckhand on the FV Wizard. For current updates, visit our facebook page.
Glad that Josh, Jake and Freddie are all still on this season. But even so, I’m sad that we won’t be seeing Tony or the rest of the CM crew. Or the CM at all. I do hope the boat will be back for season 9, if there is one…
I am glad to see the boys………makes me smile that they still are learning and that they have the greatest of friends to watch over them. THAT is an honor to Phil!

Glad that Jake and Josh are continuing to get the experience that they need to captain their own boat soon. Captain Phil will NEVER be forgotten. He is and always will be with his boys, crew, the CM and in the fans’ hearts. I really hope that Jake and Josh keep their heads up, their hearts strong, and know that their father is looking down beaming with pride with all that they are accomplishing with their lives. There are so many people pulling for you, Jake and Josh. We have faith that you will make it.

I hate the see the CM isnt fishing for crabs.. I hope Jake N Josh can get her repaired and back on the Sea Fishing…I love the show but have to see will be tough to watch this year with out the CM…I know Capt Phil is looking down proud of his boys but sad they arent on the CM…Bring back the CM….
I thought the C.M was only missing the King Crab season…I loved Phil and his sons…I hope they keep there Daddys boat going!!!!!!

Im glad to see that the guys are welcome to join the teams of the other FV’s. I’ve been watching since Season One and I was deeply saddened by Phil’s passing. I really hope that the CM will be back next season BIGGER AND BETTER! She’s one of the original Deadliest Catch FV’s!
I’ll be watching though it’ll not be the same FV Cornelia Marie out on the water,good to see Jake and Josh will be there though on different boats.Sure the Hell miss Capt Phil Harris.
I haven’t watched the show and this was to be expected. Phil was the brains and the heart of the Cornelia Marie and it died with him.

I will never forget Phil or the CM.. I am proud of all the boys and the dedication of carring on their father’s dream. Message to Josh & Jake. How much do you need to get the repairs done to the C.M. and get her back out next season? I’d chip in £5 and I’m sure there are thousands upon thousands of other Deadliest Catch fans who would do the same in memory of your father. Suggest you set up a legitimate fund where these donations can be sent to and advertise it !
I’m glad to see Josh on the Time Bandit and Jake on the Northwestern. Josh can help out the best on the TB and Sig can keep Jake in line on the NW as well as Jake learn alot more under a great captin like Sig and the Hilstrand Brothers

Thought the Cornelia Marie was going to be on for Opie season. So, hope she is back for next year. Glad the “boys” are still fishing and learning. Hopefully, one day I will be able to get out to Alaska to see the Cornelia Marie heading out to fish. Thank God the new season is on…..watching and typing during commercials.

interesting to see how the boys do on boats that are not there dads or theres they will be just another deck hand should be a good experience for them.
I am suddenly inpsired to get out my own [unnamed] Scout and sort out its problems. Somewhere, in the process of mixing parts from a busted Remette, the mechanism has gotten stiff. One of the things I especially love, when showing off the Scout, is how it has to be turned on by throwing the lever on the side.On the more irritating side, mine is Pica10, just like my other Remingtons; so wishing I had the sans-serif font common to the Scout.
It’s great Jake & Josh were able to get on other boats to work since the CM was in for repairs, but what about Ryan and the other deckhands? =(
O am glad that the Northwestern and the Time Bandit are looking out for Jake & Josh and they are still fishing but let’s have the real story other then repairs to the Cornelia Marie as a reason why the boat did not fish this year.Weren’t the repairs done before Opie’s memory serves me correctly it was repaired long before opie’s and there was pictures of it going back to dutch harbor with Tonya and Jake jollyboy.Let’s have the real story and reason for the Cornelia Marie not fishing please and what’s going on between the Harris family and Cornelia Marie herself.
Looking forward to the new season. Hopefully the break from each other for Jake and Josh will be good for them and they’ll learn how to run a boat. So we can see them working together to bring in the paycheck

Nice to see the boys have jobs for the crab seasons, the show leads the viewer to believe that there’s some financial woes not that the boat needs repaired. I think that Josh learning to captian from the bottom up is admirable, and he couldn’t do it on a better boat. The Time Bandit has 2 great Captains, and he will do well under their mentoring. If Jake decided to go a similar route, Sig has done a great Job with Jake Anderson and I think he would do well mentoring Jake H. as well. I do hope to see the Cornelia Marie back, as well as other crew members. I want to see Corey! RIP Mark A. God Bless, and Good fishin’!
I like how Sig and Johnathan took in Jake and Josh but I too miss the CM. Phil was always pouring money into the CM if you all remember. But it takes money to make money. Maybe the boys can put back some $$$ after opies to get the CM sea worthy..
i hope the ship has it’s repair completed and and better captain ready for next season. i want to see one of the sons earn there captains license and skipper the cornelia marie. fart bubbles aint that some s–t.
I’m so glad the Harris Bros. are on but sure miss seeing the CM on those waters. we’re praying for the all the fleet.
If the CM isn’t already why don’t you guys incorperate as an S Corp and sell stock? Maybe open at $50 per share with 10,000 public shares at first offering. I’d buy a few and will bet a lot of other fans of the boat, the show and Mr. Harris would also. It would improve the cash flow and offer those loyal fans like myself to own a small interest in a vessel we love. It could be a win win scenario.
Love the show, Phil is very much a missed character who added a great deal of humour to the show. Josh appears (the show is edited remember) to be rising quickest of the two to be able of running the CM. Telling comment from Jonathan hillstrand that josh should not let his brother drag him down. Jake needs to pull his finger and still continue to show he has the drive, otherwise people ( josh and the other owners of CM) will just see him as a liability. Maybe Jake still had demons to deal with….demonstrated perhaps by Elliott, his personal life and how off his game he is. Jake does not currently appear to have the right focus.
Edgar wants to be a Captain, Sig ain’t going anywhere anytime soon….How about Edgar as Captain on Cornelia Marie?
If we could, how many of you out there would buy the crab directly from the boats on the show, via a dedicated processor, to get them a higher payback?
Like the idea of Edgar Hansen taking on the Cornelia Marie and have the Harris Boys on has deckhands/co-captains. That way they could get to learn, run the boat, select fishing sites, etc.
Yes, if the Deadliest Catch boats had crab that was available nationwide in stores I bet we all would buy it. I know I would…but being in GA I’m a long way from the Bering Sea.

totally agree with john and cam that would be a great idea put edgar hansen as captain of the cornelia marie why havent they thought of that edgar wont be in the captains seat of the northwestern any time soon while sig hansen is captain. edgar my as well captain the cornelia marie with the harris boys.
You might also include one of the Hilstrand brothers in that mix. Josh Harris has their full respect it seems from watching this set of seasons so far than Jake has that of the Hansen’s. Josh seems to be the more mature of the two and the better decision maker. Really it is up to Ms. Cornelia to make the call since the boys do not have full ownership and lack the experience. Going for your captain’s license does not make you a captain it just means legally you can drive the boat now.

Lovin this season of Deadliest Catch. Really like Jr Campbell. Josh is doing great but Jake is a mess. He will only drag Josh down. So sad to see him drunk on After the Catch. Always has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and trying to talk at the same time. Very immature young man. Always whining about something instead of being grateful for the opportunity that Sig, Edgar and the crew of the Northwestern have given him. He needs to go back to rehab and stay there until he gets it. Go Josh
I heard that they sold Cornelia Marie and that’s why it’s not part of season 8.
If the cornelianarie can go out salmon fishing and it was said that repairs were already made then why can’t captain Tony and Josh and Jake take her out crabbing makes no sense to me I miss the CM
