(December 19, 1956 – February 9, 2010)
Owner & Captain

Phil captained the F/V Cornelia Marie for nearly 20 years. During thirty years of crab fishing, Phil loved the challenge of filling the crab pot. When not at sea, Phil resided in Seattle, Washington and could be seen cruising the highways of Washington on his Harley-Davidson.

JOSH HARRIS

JAKE HARRIS

Owner & Deckhand
Captain Phil’s youngest son from Seattle, Washington, serves as deckhand on the F/V Cornelia Marie. Jake, along with his brother Josh inherited his father’s share of the F/V Cornelia Marie. For the full BIO of Jake Harris, click here.


FREDDIE MAUGHTAI

Current Deckhand

Freddie has been fishing for more than 17 years. He is an experienced deck hand; with the F/V Cornelia Marie off and on since the early 90’s. During the off-season, Freddie lives in Idaho and Dutch Harbor with his family.

STEVE WARD

Current Engineer/Deckhand

Steve joined the Cornelia Marie for the 2009 Opilio fishery.   He fished with Capt. Phil periodically for the last 20 years.  He’s an experienced fishermen and the boat’s Engineer.  More later.


RYAN SIMPSON

Current Deckhand

Ryan Simpson, age 30, was born in Dutch Harbor and has a long history with the Harris family. Ryan is friends with Capt. Phil’s sons, and their parents and grandparents fished together as well. Ryan joined the FV Cornelia Marie during King Crab season in 2009 as a Greenhorn, but had previously worked on the fishing boat “FV Handler”.

Ryan has spent most of his life on the water, including taking his first steps on his grandfather’s boat. Ryan went to college at the request of his father, who always thought that the higher education could help him make more money and be happier.  Ironically, Ryan chose the life of a fisherman instead.Please read Ryan’s full bio here, (Ryan Simpson Biography).
