We mourn the loss of Capt. Phil Harris

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad – Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. – Jake and Josh Harris
It is with tremendous sadness that I say goodbye to Phil Harris. Phil and I have been business partners and friends for nearly 20 years. We have been through a lot of ups and downs together with the F/V Cornelia Marie. As a skipper, he was a great fisherman. He loved his family and cared for his crew. We will all miss him. – Cornelia Marie Devlin
Statement from Discovery – Discovery mourns the loss of dear friend and colleague Captain Phil Harris. He was more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. We share our tremendous sadness over this loss with the millions of viewers who followed Phil’s every move. We send our thoughts and prayers to Phil’s sons Josh and Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew.

I am sorry but i think that the death of Phil Harris should be celebrated more than it is, i feel he was the heart and soul of the crab fishing world, I thank you Phil for all the years of great memories of watching your sons and you and the crew of the Cornelia Marie going where no man dares to go and catch crab so the world can enjoy King Crab. I have never met you but you will be very much missed at my home and our hearts and prayers go out to your sons and hope Jake gets his problem under control, once again thank you Phil, may you rest in peace.

May you rest in peace Captain Phil with dignity, honor and respect…you earned it. As for you Josh and Jake, may God bless you and watch over you every step of the way. It wasn’t very hard to see that your father loved you very much and his face just glowed with pride for you two boys, despite anything wrong you may have done! It’s called life and we all go through the same trials and tribulations. I can see that you boys will come out bright and shining…DO WHAT’S RIGHT and make your father proud, he sure deserves that! ~~GOD BLESS~~

Mr. Harris will be missed.
God takes those who earn their way into Heaven, we all know Phil deserved his reservation. His hard working hands are finally at rest. Not only a father of two decent boys, but an admirable man all together. Mr. Harris can now enjoy watching over his family without having to be on the water. Jake and Josh, know that He is there, to support the both of you with whatever comes your way. I’m not very good with words, but I know that in times like this, hearing from others who have lost loved ones can be more than enough support.
Outside of the life of a “TV Family”, Losing someone is as real as it gets, and it hits every single one of us personally. To the Crew of F/V Cornelia Marie, Thank you for sharing your story. It’s moments like this that make you realize what it’s all about…
The Family.

I’ve watched the show from the start and I can say immediately I was drawn by Phil and his character. He was stern, laid back, funny, real, and human. He’s a man’s man and was 100% real. I had no idea he had passed till today and I was shocked. I’ve been watching and pulling for him this season was so devastated to hear the news. Phil and his family are in my thoughts. The world would be a better place if it were filled with people like Phil Harris.

RIP Captain Phil Harris.. You may be gone but never forgotten. Like everyone else on here the CM an you guys have been my favorite to watch! You guys are the heart and soul of one of the meanest an physically demanding jobs on this earth. Jake and Josh your father was a good man, I lost my father when I was only 5 years old. I never got the pleasure to work side by side with my dad, But watching you all together on the show work as a team it brought back the fond and few memories I do have.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your father and to your family.
I know god sometimes works in mysterious ways but you know what they say, He ONLY takes the best.
I wish you guys the best an I hope you carry on your fathers legacy and good luck in your future fishing!

Josh and Jake. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I recently lost my dad who was my best friend as well. We worked together everyday for the last 30 years with the last 5 being our closest time together. I never write comments on these venues but felt compelled after watching tonight to let you know that you can draw strength in the knowledge other men are going through the same difficult times and it it’s ok to grieve and talk to your friends and family about what you are felling. Time may heal but you will never forget your Dad. God Bless

Jake and Josh,
It is silly for any man to say he understands how you feel. I came under simalar circumstance’s this past year losing my loving mother in October 2009 age 54, and then my larger than life Vagabond father in January 2010 age 57.
I as you was given the chance to say a quick goodbye however their transition from this life was not pleasent or smooth. What I have learned is grab a hold of each day and wring it out for all it’s worth, and never take friends or family for granted.
I am a fromer Navy man served on Carriers I am 35 years old and if you need a in shape middle aged man to help keep the pace on your fathers ship call me. Jeff 517/652-1081

We in the United Kingdom have just seen the episode where Phil passed away and i still have tears in my eyes even though i have known for many months it still feels new.
I was 6 and at school when my dad passed away i remember i was so excited as it was the 1st time i had a packed lunch to take so i know how you feel Jake and Josh you were braver than i was i couldnt go to my dads funeral it is my cross to bear i just couldnt say goodbye, I have watched every thing on Deadliest catch i can find and Phil was a hero i always looked forward to when we would visit your boat and share in Phils wisdom.
I feel lucky that even though i never met Phil i shared in his life and i got to know the man that Phil was, thats why his passing has hit me hard he was a man i looked upto and respected your dad was and always will be proud of you and he will be looking down on you as i feel my dad is always watching over me but your dad has lots more Childern to look over all the people who know him, though deadliest catch, all the fisherman and all the crabs will look to the sky and acknowledge the great man that is Phil Harris
