We mourn the loss of Capt. Phil Harris
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad – Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. – Jake and Josh Harris
It is with tremendous sadness that I say goodbye to Phil Harris. Phil and I have been business partners and friends for nearly 20 years. We have been through a lot of ups and downs together with the F/V Cornelia Marie. As a skipper, he was a great fisherman. He loved his family and cared for his crew. We will all miss him. – Cornelia Marie Devlin
Statement from Discovery – Discovery mourns the loss of dear friend and colleague Captain Phil Harris. He was more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. We share our tremendous sadness over this loss with the millions of viewers who followed Phil’s every move. We send our thoughts and prayers to Phil’s sons Josh and Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew.

being a fan Of Deadliest Catch for the past 3 seasons I came to know him as a good hardworking man with a iron will to get things done & succeed in life, steadfastly honest, devoted to his family, freinds & fishing the crews that he’s worked with.
those are the qualities of a true man.
to all rrading this, I appolgize for the lateness of this post (15 Months late). With the random nature that is telelvision & syndication, I had not realized that captain Phil had passed away amoungst the many re run epsisodes of the show over that time.
None the less when I found out that Phil had passed. the sadness and shock felt just as painful as the day it happend.
To Jake and Josh:
I wish you both well and hope your dad’s memory will shine throuh in everthing you choose do in your own lives. god bless.
To the produceres:
Thanks to Discovery Channel inc. for giving (regualar folk) the opportunity see the lives of these men through their own eyes.

I’m so glad Josh that you listened to Freddy were u made they choice to stay with your dad I made the mistake of not staying and just a few hours later my grandad died, it’s a hurdle that I will never get over in my life.
Don’t ever think your alone there are mullins of people who watch what you guys go throw, and we all say good on you Jake and Josh, best wishes from me nd my familey good luck with the upcoming seasons we will be watching and hoping that you and crew stay safe out there.

He will no doubt always live on through his kids to whom he gave life, and also through all of those faceless strangers like myself, whose lives he touched and made better. I’m amazed that folks like Captain Phil make it through one trip and actually go back out there again, let alone season after season. I now live in Korea and before that was living in Ecuador, so not so easy to stay current, but I just download the latest seasons of the show on Itunes and learned about your loss.
