Capt. Phil and boys on Larry King Live

Ever wonder if Captain Phil gets scared out there on the Bering Sea?  Do the guys ever get sea-sick? How about falling overboard?  Check out this YouTube video from an appearance on Larry King Live back on April 11, 2009 and get the inside scoop.  Captain Phil, Josh and Jake Harris talk about why it seems that most fans of Deadliest Catch are not fisherman, the scariest moments in the life of Alaskan Fisherman and some of the reasons they do what they do!    See clips from last season and the  Cornelia Marie crew on Larry King Live. What do you think makes the Deadliest Catch such a popular show, especially among people who aren’t a part of  the fishing industry? If you could ask Captain Phil, Josh or Jake one question – what would it be?

    Most of the women I know including myself love the show because the men are manly men and we love the different personalites. The adventure and pranks and family dimensions add to the entertainment value. Better than any soap opera thats for sure! We root for our favorites and mourn the losses of those we dont even know. Somehow this show sucked us right in!

    It is great to hear Phil and the boys, I watch the show because it is not the same old thing all the time. don’t care for most reality shows, but this is real reality. I feel guilty sitting in my warm house, while they are out there. I am very aware now of what they go through and it is amazing.

    It is awesome to watch what these boys do to catch our crab. What they go through is unreal & totally bio!
    The perfection of staying awake doing the same strategic and timing seems to unbelievable! I do love watching the families be real… The cussing is great and sounds like my Air Force family… giggles
    May you all stay in good health and be safe!
    Phil watch your health! It would be a great lose with out you!

    Love the show, the family dynamic is so fun to watch. Glad Phil is back on the boat, been praying for you! Please, stay safe out there, believe it or not, we worry about you! Thank you for allowing us a glimpse into your lives, you are amazing men and we look forward to seeing you every week (in reruns too!). Josh and Jake seem like real good guys, Phil, brought up well (obviously they are little sh*ts but I think they may come by that honestly!) it is a pleasure to watch them. They seem to have a good work ethic and respect for you and others on the boat. I am impressed. Anyway, take good care and thanks again for all that you are and all that you do, you are REAL men, too bad there weren’t more like you!

    I watch this show becasue for 30+ years my dad was a scalloper. And there are major similiarities. This show lets me know what my dad went through to support us kids for all those years. And these Captains and there crew just ROCK.

    Sorry to read of Captain Phil Harris passing. We love watching the Deadliest Catch.

    My wife is from S.E. Alaska and we lived there and Anchorage for a while. We moved outside and we always return for visits.

    Our thought and prayers are with the Captain, his family and friends.

    Phil was one of a kind, you boys should be massivly proud of your father, as he made a mark on history like no other in the hearts and minds of veiwers all accross the world.

    I saw the news and my heart sank, God must want the best people on this earth to accompany him.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to you guys!
    Keep doing what your father so dearly loved, and keep the tradition alive.

    He would want it that way.

    My deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes outto Josh and Jake Harris as well as the entire Cornelia Marie “family”. To Josh and Jake, thank you for sharing your dad with the millions of us who got to know, love, respect and admire through the show. Always remember that the love your dad felt for you was love in it’s truest form and not an act or “put on” for the show.

    RIP Phil
    and here is something I’d like to share with the boys, that was read when my dad passed away:

    God saw you getting tred and a cure was not to be,
    so He put His arms around you and whispered “come to me”;

    With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away,
    Although we loved yo dearly we could not make you stay;

    A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest,
    God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the BEST.

    I am deeply saddened by the loss of Captain Phil. I was a deckhand on a boat who sold fish to him in Bristol Bay in 97′98′. We would get our perishables from his freezer each time we offloaded fish. I have been watching every episode of Deadliest Catch since it started,following his boat’s tragedy’s and triumphs. My heart goes out to his family.

    I am in total shock ! It is as if I have lost someone I have known all my life. The show is one show I do not want to miss. I love to fish but can’t even begain to know the courage and strength it takes to do that kind of fishing. My thoughts and prayers go out to Phils boys, Josh and Jake and their family. I was watching the show the night Phil was knocked out of his bunk and broke his ribs, that caused the blood clot to travel through his heart and longs. I thought we were going to lose him then, but he came through it. I know how proud he had to of been to know his boys would man the Cornelia Marie while he recovered. You could see the bond they had with their dad, even though they had their differences at times. You could always see the love they had for each other. I know the boys will continue to make their dad proud to carry on !! What the boys have learned from their dad is something that most boys have never shared. I know Captain Phils sprit will be there with them as they journey on !!
