Cornelia Marie thanks you for your support

My mother Cornelia Marie and I wish to thank everyone for your support on behalf of Josh, Jake and the rest of the family. During this most difficult time you have expressed your sadness and offered your prayers and good wishes. Many of you have also shared your concern for Phil’s boys. Many nice of words have been written in emails and comments – we appreciate them all.
Many of you have asked if the “family has a charity, group or cause they would like donations to be made in Capt. Phil’s memory”. Capt. Phil supported certain causes and something will be setup shortly. Once it is, we’ll post it here.
Anything sent to the address below, will be hand-delivered to Jake, Josh and Phil’s dad by a close family friend.
Captain Phil Harris
PO Box 32466
Amarillo, TX 79120-2466
Thank you so much for all the kind words. We will post more later.

Dear Jake and Josh,
I have been watching deadliest catch since it started. I have always loved your father. Your father and I do have to say Jonathan from The Time Bandit were my favorite captains on the show. But I always watched it because of your father. From what I saw on the show you’re father seemed to be a very kind and loving man. He seemed to be like a big kid. That’s a good thing. Every time I will watch the show I will be thinking of you and your father. He will be truly missed.. Your father will always be with you and your family in your heart and mind.
My god bless you and keep you safe..

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Josh and Jake for their loss.I feel as though I’ve lost a good friend. The Harris family and the Hilstrand family are at the top of my favorite list. I’ve had alot of laughs watching the family spats and joking around amoungst you. I haven’t missed an episode of Deadliest Catch since it began and have all of the books and dvds that can be found. I will truly miss your dad. You both have been taught well by your dad and I know that you are ready to take on the job if that is what you choose. You have the crab pendant to prove it. That brought tears to my eyes to see. May God bless you both and keep you safe.
With my respect and admiration.

So devastatingly sorry to hear about the passage of Captain Phil. Words do not quite express the joy my family and I have received in watching the show and rooting the crew of the Cornelia Marie in getting the most crab! Phil will be missed. The show will not quite be the same without him! I have total faith that he is now fishing in the big sea in the sky and asking God if he wants a light!

To the Harris Family
Losing someone is never easy, but losing your father for to young men must be so hard. My son lost his father at 13, and is about to name is first child after him. So you to men remember your father Phil. who got me hooked on the show and and watching him finish raising his two boys. His love and pride for you two never wavered. Even after chewing one of you out, after you would leave, he would look at the camera and shrug his shoulders and say what are you gonna do? Jake, ne of the posts I read said you got in some trouble in Seattle, I understand the anger, but get out on one of te boats and take that anger out on the Bearing Sea…I garauntee you can’t hurt it!! G-d bless you and your broth Josh and your grandfather. Watch out most for him, as a mom I can tell you, parents are not meant to bury their children.

To the Harris Family,
Boys, I lost my father at 53 as well, this was 14 years ago. You two have been the luckiest boys to spend the amount of time with your father on the CM. He has taught you both a lot with millions of people watching. Jake, we have watch you over the past 5 years turn into a strong character. Take time to absorb everything your father taught you and you are destined for success. Josh, you have the making of success you have been given self confidence bye being on the CM with your father and Jake. I wish you both all the best. Be true to yourselves.
RIP CAPTAIN PHIL HARRIS may your legacy never be forgotten.

I Hope you take comfort in the knollege that he was a great father, son, friend, captain and all round great guy who will be mourned the world over. Jake & Josh you pair are just so like phil. Anyone watching the show can see that. Just remember that he will live on through the pair of you in your hearts. I come from a small island in scotland and hope that this message will give all the family a bit of comfort to know that phil was loved everywhere, even the smallest of places like orkney.

Dear Jake, Josh and the Harris family,
I express my sincerest condolences, from my family to yours.
Please accept this poem as my gift to you:
Captain Phil sailed away,
doing what he loved each day.
He toiled and fret each passing year,
hauling all that heavy gear.
Yet, he still had fun.
playing pranks on everyone!
He loved his sons and his way.
he could not change to save his day.
He raised his sons to be great men.
and now his story needs to end.
Captain Phil sailed away…
Doing what he LOVED each day.
Goodbye Captain Phil, smooth sailing!

But just remember, he was proud of both of you, as any father who loves his sons like he did, would be. Keep his memory alive through the Cornelia Marie. Look solely to her for his guidance. She is yours now, and needs you both, now more than ever. Take good care of her as he would want you to. Lots of love to both of you, as you continue your father’s beloved tradiion. I was surprised, and deeply saddened to hear of the death of your father Captain Phil.HE WAS A COOL DUDE !!
I’ve watched Deadliest Catch every season, I LOVE the show.If its on all weekend, I watch it all weekend,Re-runs too..It was funny seeing his face when you came on the boat with the tv & games. And the cost of $800 bucks blew him away,Lol. But he was cool.
And the mohawk he couldn’t believe that one.All that pretty hair was gone, for the sake of good fishing Lol. I think that really blew him away,he totally didn’t expect that. Lol :) :)
Your dad will be missed !He seemed like a straight forward, up front, and straight to the point man.
(2 Thumbs up )
And he expressed his love and hopes for a good future for the both of you on the shows, you could hear it in his voice. It wasn’t always what he said it was sometimes what he didn’t say.
I’m sure he’s in heaven crab fishing, and keeping his eyes on you two. So Keep him proud !
My prayers are with you all and your family.Keep Safe, and God bless!

I just heard of the tragic death of Captain Phil. Based on what I’ve seen over the years on Deadliest Catch, Phil was a man of integrity who was truly committed to his family. I think the loss of Captain Phil is felt with each episode of the new season of DC. However his (Phil’s) presence is very much felt through the images there.
I’ve stated before the strength of the family is learned from adversity. Nations have been destroyed or strengthened on these bonds.
My wish is the boys have aired their differences and learned it isn’t a matter of who’s who on the boat but how you work together as a team.
The greatest respect you’ll ever display towards your father’s memory is…how well you each do your part in breaking down barriers between you two. Forge ahead and be proud of your heritage.
All my best to the Harris family and their friends.

Hey boys, I lost my Daddy 2 years ago and like your Dad, mine was larger than life too. My Dad was a well known police officer. I never thought I lived up to what he wanted me to be or that I made him proud enough. It’s so hard to lose your Dad when he’s so much more than just a Dad in your eyes. He’s a hero, brave, witty, admired by everyone and you feel so proud to be his child. He wasn’t a “regular” Dad, he was much more. He was Alpha Male. My Dad died at 60 and this makes the pain so much worse. Time does make it better but it never goes away…just cling to eachother like he’d want you to and don’t feel pressure to follow in his footsteps, if the sea isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. You make your decisions now and he would be proud either way. In my 2 years of grieving I’ve decided my Dad was proud of me and that he must have loved me fiercely. Remember the ties that bind and the love of brothers. God Bless and I’m so happy I have this season left to witness your Dad.
