Capt. Phil makes progress toward recovery
Capt. Phil was talking to friends and family today; showing his greatest progress since he suffered a massive stroke one week ago. It’s been a long and difficult week for friends and family as Phil was medivaced from St. Paul Island and under went surgery.
Capt. Phil’s sons Josh and Jake have been at this hospital and continue to stay by their father’s side. Some Bering Sea fishermen have also come by to pay Phil a visit.
Meanwhile, the F/V Cornelia Marie has been back fishing for Opilios. The season has really just begun, so there’s much more fishing to do.
Great folks from around the world have sent their messages of encouragement and get-well soon greetings – for this, we will always be thankful. Many cards have been sent and they will all get to Phil as he recovers.

Jake and Josh, We as Discovery junkies are very thankful to have known your personalities and your fathers. You guys showed family love, awesome work ethic, and shared yourselves with all us. We will all miss your father. He came into our homes and showed us that good people with good values are around us even in the harshest of environments. You guys brought us all laughs, love, and tears along the way. Showing a fathers love to his boys and a boys love for their dad. We should all be so lucky to have seen the bond you all have and to wish it were ours. You guys are not alone, we have come to love you and your father as part of our extended families.Though threw our tv screens we’ve all found love for the men bigger than life. The quest for adventure we may never experience is your everyday. The love for a men we will never meet. Your father gave us that and more. You will never be able to replace a fathers love, but you can offer it to others threw loving others the way you dad loves you. We wish you a clear path through this impossibly rough time, and to offer our love as fans to help you see though to a better time.
Love you guys,

Thia is a very sad day for all of us that have watched and loved Capt Phil Harris. I myself send with the utmost vigil and caring prayers to Josh, Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew. I have seen the show many times and have grown to love Capt Phil as a Big Brother (even if I didn’t know him personally) and the way he made me and others laugh. I have seen the love he showed us for the two boys and his crew. I know that, he being a fisherman, will always watch over the CM while she is out crabbing and especially his boys and her crew. With such a heavy heart I must say, R.I.P. Capt Phil! We all will miss you very dearly and love you and your boys and crew and may they always have your help in finding the crab as they move on in this world.. No one can ever say “Goodbye”, just to have you hold a place for us until we meet again!
We miss you and love you! Josh and Jake, please remeber that he Loved you very dearly and would want you to succeed in the now and future with whatever you decide on doing in life and also he will be there right next to you every day of your lives. Until you all meet again, God Bless and stay strong!

My prayers go out to all of Phil’s family. A fan of the show because of the job portraits an area that people cannot phathm but we depend so much on the crabs that come in. As a nurse, I’ve thought so many times how dangerous and serious the health of all of the crew members could be at stake. As a believer in Jesus, I pray that he knew the Lord as Savior before he passed. As a nurse, I’ve spent many hours with stroke patients in ICU,praying. My prayers are lifted up for Josh and Jake.

I was shocked to hear about the loss of Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie. I have followed the series with enthusiasme and loved to watch the guys on the Cornelia Marie and the rest of the fleet in Deadliest Catch. Phil was one of the men who, in my opinion, had the most humour of the captains. Always that wonderful rough laughter. He will be deeply missed! My thoughts goes to his two sons Jake and Josh and the rest of the family and crew of the Cornelia Marie. May he rest in peace.

TO THE PLACE WITH NO NAME.
If Fairies were real
And wishes came true
Capt. Phil. would be walking
Here beside you.
Change Fairies to God
Wishes to prayers
And ours will be answered
As Capt. Phil. climbs the stairs.
To a place upon high
Where God reigns as king
To a place that is peaceful
And the people all sing.
To a place with no illness
Suffering or pain
To a heavenly place
Where we’ll meet Capt.Phil. again.
When our time on earth
Has come to an end
God with his love
His angels will send.
To carry us up
To the place on high
Up way beyond
The clear blue sky.
To the place with no illness
Suffering or pain
And there we will live
With Capt. Phil. once again

Phil and his sons strike a chord with other men: we have screwed up, we have fallen, we worked hard and maybe didn’t get what we wanted from it. I lost my Dad suddenly in kind of similar circumstances in April 08. My thoughts are with you Josh and Jake, your lives change forever now. The road is long, but I’m sure you’ll get some small sense of warmth from pages like this and the knowledge that your Dad is mourned, respected and missed around the world.

Capt. Phil wasmsomeone that became very much a part of many lives. His legacy will live on with his strength and boldness of being a leader.
He has ensured that many will follow in his footsteps, using his sometimes harsh manner to get the job done, and his understanding of personal lives.
Cappy, hat’s off to you and maybe we will meet in heaven someday and swap storeis.
Go n-eírí an bóthar leat.
May the road rise with you.
——————————————————————————–
May the blessing of the rain be on you—
the soft sweet rain.
May it fall upon your spirit
so that all the little flowers may spring up,
and shed their sweetness on the air.
May the blessing of the great rains be on you,
may they beat upon your spirit
and wash it fair and clean,
and leave there many a shining pool
where the blue of heaven shines,
and sometimes a star.
——————————————————————————–
May the good earth be soft under you
when you rest upon it,
and may it rest easy over you when,
at the last, you lay out under it,
And may it rest so lightly over you
that your soul may be out
from under it quickly,
and up, and off,
And be on its way to God.
——————————————————————————–
Dear Lord,
Give me a few friends
who will love me for what I am,
and keep ever burning
before my vagrant steps
the kindly light of hope…
And though I come not within sight
of the castle of my dreams,
teach me to be thankful for life,
and for time’s olden memories
that are good and sweet.
And may the evening’s twilight
find me gentle still.
——————————————————————————–
May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart,
and warmed by the smiles
of the people you love.
——————————————————————————–
May the light of heaven shine on your grave.
——————————————————————————–
Bless those minding cattle,
And those minding sheep,
And those fishing the sea
While the rest of us sleep.
——————————————————————————–
If God sends you down a stony path,
may he give you strong shoes.
——————————————————————————–
May the rains sweep gentle across your fields,
May the sun warm the land,
May every good seed you have planted bear fruit,
And late summer find you standing in fields of plenty.
——————————————————————————–
May the frost never afflict your spuds.
May the leaves of your cabbage always be free from worms.
May the crows never pick your haystack.
If you inherit a donkey, may she be in foal.
——————————————————————————–
May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
——————————————————————————–
Wherever you go and whatever you do,
May the luck of the Irish be there with you.
——————————————————————————–
Wishing you always…
Walls for the wind,
A roof for the rain
And tea beside the fire.
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire
——————————————————————————–
May neighbours respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.
——————————————————————————–
May the light of heaven shine on your grave.
——————————————————————————–
May the smile of God light you to glory.
——————————————————————————–
God bless the corners of this house,
And be the lintel blest,
And bless the hearth and bless the board,
And bless each place of rest,
And bless each door that opens wide
To stranger as to kin,
And bless each crystal window pane
That lets the starlight in,
And bless the rooftree overhead
And every sturdy wall.
The peace of man, the peace of God,
The peace of love on all.

THEN we saw that Capt Phil had passed and the smiles quickly faded to heartbreak. We are just so sad and sorry for the Harris Family, the CM crew and yes the fans of the show’s loss. He will forever be missed. Josh and Jake you will never be without him, he will always be there watching over you all and captaining his ship just as he always has. Captain Phil was my favorite captain in the fleet, and like everybody else, I am so sad that he’s gone. I was concerned from the time I seen the episode when he had the blood clot, and I knew then just how serious things were, and held my breath waiting for the new season to see if he would be back, as I’m sure you boys were. Time does heal, but speaking from experience there is not a day that goes by that I don’t wish that I could pick up the phone and call my mother who I lost 8 yrs ago. I cope by telling myself that this truly is part of life… just the hard part. Heartfelt sympathy from all your Michigan fans, and I hope you will still continue to show us a glimpse into the lives aboard the Cornelia Marie.
