Capt. Phil is in the hospital, medivacked from St. Paul
Captain Phil Harris suffered a stroke yesterday at St. Paul Island in Alaska. He was medivacked to Anchorage and is currently at a hospital receiving treatment.
I didn’t say anything earlier, so family can learn from us instead of through the internet. I know anybody who is reading this also cares about Phil, so we thought you should know as well.
Phil is at a good hospital and receiving the best care possible. My mother, Cornelia Marie Devlin and Jake Harris are with him at the hospital. The boat is in the harbor now, but needs to be able to leave in case the ice shifts and moves in.
He was immediately taken to the clinic in St. Paul – the same place he was treated when he had a blood clot two years ago.
As soon as we receive more information about Phil, we will pass it on to you.

Tears are still being shed and my heart goes out. Especially to you kids.
Put me on the list for if there is anything, anything I can do.
If only the Man would let it be so, Phil would still be here and healthy because I would have been happy to have traded places with him. If only.
Capt. Phil will not be forgotten

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Phil Harris family and friends. My family has watched the show for several seasons and feel we got a glimpse into your lives and scary job. My family has been a military family of 20 yearsof an 82nd Airbone Soldier and know all to well the worry for a loved one. We watched the show at first because of the craziness of the job but later as a way to glimpse and see all had made it home safe for that season. We are so saddened to see that Phil has left this world for he made it a brighter and more interesting one. He will be missed by many including my family whom he didnt even know. All the best to your family and boys if you continue your fathers legacy be careful. The viewers could see how much your father loved and adored you both. R.I.P Phil… The Garth Family Fort Bragg NC

I try to hold back the tears
For a man I never knew.
But they come –
As real as when my parents died.
But yet I did know him,
Full of life – now bigger than life!
He was Captain
of the Cornelia Marie.
A special man
Who grew in our hearts,
His passion for the boat and sea
Obvious.
Captain Phil will never be gone.
He will always be in the Bering Strait
Always with his love – the Cornelia Marie.
My prayers are with you.

It is with great sadness that I offer my condolences. Phil was such an entertainer… via sharing his sea life with all of us. He was my favorite of all the fisherman.. I loved the episode when he quit smoking. Not only was he ridiculusly talented in his field, he appeared to be such a good father and employer. If I miss him and I don’t even know him…… my heaet goes out to his family and friends as their lives will never be the same. I pray that you d a way to cope with such an enormous loss. They are of Phil, Teresa, Joelle & the red corvette. lol Our prayers are with you both. It has been a real joy to watch the show of you two and your dad working together. I remember him talking about what a thrill it would be for him for you boys to follow in his footsteps. God’s blessings on you both.

To Jake and Josh….
the only family i know through DISCOVERY, i wish you Gods blessings over all of you and your grieving time for a man I would have gladly chosen for a father.
Out of all the captains on DISCOVERY/DEADLIEST CATCH… Phil was the one I would vote the most wise, kind, caring for his staff…. and just a normal man. Not a ego maniac, prideful jerk (which several of the captains I’ve seen are!)
I. personally, was shocked and saddened by the notification on DISCOVERY CHANNEL
that Phil had died.
I know his family will miss him So much.
I pray he was a believer so I can shake his hand in heaven. A man I greatly respect.
God bless you Phil. May you rein in heaven.

For Josh and Jake and the whole Cornelia Marie Family – I am so, so sorry for your loss. It is also a loss for the millions of people who found a friend in Phil. Like myself, the same age as Phil, I tried to quit smoking when he did so I could support him mentally, and I adored him because he was gorgeous with a personality that was larger than life. But most of all I loved Phil for his sense of humor. I completely identified with his humor – somewhat irreverent, wonderfully sarcastic, and that rolling of the eyes whenever he was exasperated. Who could not watch Phil and fall in love, at least speaking from a woman’s point of view. So I will still watch the Time Bandit, the Northwestern, the Wizard and all the other brave crews that risk their lives each season, but with a heavy heart and a feeling that they will have their own guardian angel of those dangerous seas in Captain Phil Harris.

Heard the news about Phil a bit late, but it didnt lessen the sadness. Phil, although a celebrity, wasnt a pointless, pretentios poser. He was, and is, one of lifes true celebrities. respected for his commitment to his family and his crew, unaffected by the fame that came his way. I never knew him, but of all the crews on all the boats, I wish I had. To Jake and Josh, you were lucky to have such a man as your dad. I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry about your dad. I lost mine on the 21st of this month last year to cancer. I will add another star to my prayer list . God Bless you boys, and I have no advice to give you to help you out. It is the most painful thing I have ever gone through, My dad died 2/21/2009 after caner of the larynx and lung This weekend will be the first anniversery of his death.. It has devasted me to hear about him. May God Bless you kids and I will add y’all to my prayer list. I am so sorry for your loss.Phil was a great Man and Father to you both.
It will take a long time to get over this, and I am one of three sisters, none of us ,married,
I was for 20 years and my ex-husband took my children, and left me with nothing. I am about to go bankrupt, but that is not our concern.
God love you, bless you, and don’t worry, he is with my Dad in Heaven.
I’ll pray for your Dad every day, as I do for my own.
Been there, it’s hard, not over it,

To the Harris Family,
I wanted to let you know that first off it is going to sound weird me saying this about someone on a t.v. show. I never had a great relationship with my father and that is why the F/V Cornelia Marie was my favorite crew. There were of course times when the boys just ground on the last nerve Cpt. Harris had. From arguing who was in charge to buying big screen t.v.s while in dock for repairs, but you could always see that Cpt. Harris loved his sons with everything he had. The boys did not see the great crab captain or their boss but they saw a father whowould love them no matter what and that is why i loved to watch the F/V Cornelia Marie and the father and sons who crewed this ship
