Merry Christmas from F/V Cornelia Marie

Merry Christmas from everyone at the F/V Cornelia Marie.  We’re tied up in Dutch Harbor until Opilio season; which starts January 15th.  Of course, the crew will start work before that day getting everything ready.  The Opilio season is a long, hard grind compared to King Crab.  The weather is worse, the ice is a problem and the danger is higher.  Here’s a couple photos of our last offload for King Crab.  These were provided by a blog about Dutch Harbor, called Dutch Harbor Dirt.  Thanks to the webmaster, we’ll be using his photos throughout the season.

HEY GUY’S, HOPE YOUR POTS ARE FULL. WISH YOU A SAFE SEASON. WITH ANY LUCK Y’ALL WILL GET A COUPLE OF FREE CASES OF BEER FROM THE ROOKIE AND OR ROOKIES WITH LITTLE OR NO INJURY. I FOR ONE CAN SAY I HAVE FOUND A NEW APPRECIATION FOR THE RISKS Y’ALL TAKE TO MAKE YOUR LIVING AND TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR FAMILIES. I WOULD HAVE TO IMAGINE THAT FROM TIME TO TIME AND MORE OFTEN THEN NOT THE CAMERAS ONBOARD HAVE BROUGHT NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT YOUR FAMILIES CLOSER TO UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH YOU PUT YOURSELVES AT RISK. FROM A CONSTRUCTION WORKERS STAND POINT, I KNOW YOU GUY’S LIVE FOR THE CATCH!! THE THRILL!!! IN MY OPINION THATS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT. I WOULD BE PROUD TO PUKE MY GUTS OUT AND WORK MY FINGERS TO THE BONE,FREEZE MY ASS OFF AND GIVE MY LIFE TO PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY. WITH THAT BEING SAID, IN SHORT, THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT AND ESCAPE FROM MY DAILY GRIND. SOULS LOST ON MY PROJECT 1 Timothy Mackinnon 45, of Arlington.TX GOD BE WITH HIM AND HIS FAMILY AND ALL OF YOU. COME HOME SAFE.

My youngest is now 19, which means I am alone most of the time. I subscribed to cable this year, for company at nights when I can’t sleep, and was immediately hooked on DC. I am a nurse, work PM shift and make sure I never am scheduled on Tuesday nights. When I turn the tv on, I always check Discovery channel to see if there might be a DC on. I was in luck today with a Marathon and am still watching it (not all day). Hope to see Phil back this next year and doing well. Good luck with the next season

What’s up Phil? Alan from Anacortes(Burlington Collision). We went to Skagit Speedway together. I got out of the automotive industry, I’ve been running boats deploying oil boom at the refineries in Anacortes. Last week I was hired by Foss International to do some work in the gulf. I will be getting my 100 ton as soon as I get back. Hope all is well. Jeff Turner says hi.
