About

The FV Cornelia Marie™ was originally built by Ralph and Cornelia Collins in 1989.  This was the last boat owned by Ralph Collins and the culmination of a career in the commercial fishing business.  Prior to building the FV Cornelia Marie, Ralph  worked his way up from smaller fishing vessels.  This included the FV Milky Way, FV Predator and half ownership of the FV Lady Helen.

Several years after the completion of the FV Cornelia Marie, Phil Harris was hired as a Crab fishing skipper.  Eventually, Phil worked his way into partial ownership of the CM.  Cornelia and Ralph later divorced which resulted in Cornelia obtaining the fishing vessel.  So, today there are two families behind the F/V Cornelia Marie, but you only see the Harris family on television.

Morgan Howard

Morgan Howard is the son of Cornelia Marie Devlin, majority owner of the F/V Cornelia Marie.  Morgan grew up commercial fishing on the F/V Cornelia Marie and the other family owned boats, F/V Milky Way, F/V Lady Helen and the F/V Predator.  This was prior to arrival of Capt. Phil as the skipper of Cornelia Marie.  In addition to working on the Cornelia Marie website, Morgan owns Morgan Howard Productions.  He is also the founder of NativeCo.com, a website dedicated to providing information and news about Alaska Native business.

Morgan created the Corneliamarie.com website in April, 2007.  “My inspiration to create the Cornelia Marie website occurred when my mother told me that the “Make a Wish Foundation” had children interested in visiting the Cornelia Marie™. I couldn’t believe anyone would even consider a visit to our fishing boat as a ‘wish’ fulfilled. “
